About Me

Hi! My name is Sam Wheeler, and I’m a third-year Mechanical Engineering student at Virginia Tech. Growing up beneath a flight path for Richmond International Airport gave me an early love for aircraft, which eventually led me toward propulsion, aerodynamics, and mechanical design. I’m especially interested in collaborative combat aircraft and the engineering challenges involved in creating fast, adaptable, and highly integrated air vehicles. My favorite engineering projects are the ones that bring these areas together into a complete system and allow me to take an idea through design, fabrication, and testing. Outside of engineering, you'll probably find me watching indie movies, going to the gym with my friends, or spending time outside. I also love music and try to attend as many concerts as possible! This portfolio is a collection of the experiences that have shaped my engineering skills, allowed me to explore the areas of aerospace that interest me most, and given me the opportunity to serve as a leader at Virginia Tech.
